Terms of Use & Liability Disclaimer.

Last updated: May 17, 2026. By creating an account or using Mission Control (burnplans.com), you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Planning Tool — Not Professional Advice

Mission Control is a planning aid for prescribed-fire practitioners. It does not constitute professional, regulatory, legal, or fire-management advice. The tool does not replace the judgment of a qualified burn boss, fire-management officer, or any agency-required certification or approval process. Nothing produced by this site substitutes for jurisdictional review, permits, or authorizations required by your state, county, tribal, or federal authorities.

2. Burn Manager Verification — Required Before Signing

You, the burn manager / burn boss / planner-of-record, are solely responsible for verifying every input, every formula output, every weather value, and every prescription parameter before signing the plan and before ignition. Live forecast data is pulled from third-party services (e.g. Open-Meteo) and is not guaranteed to be accurate, current, or available at the time of execution. GPS reverse-geocoding is provided by third-party services and is approximate. All auto-calculated totals (acreage roll-ups, fuel loading) and the 14:00 weather snapshot (surface temperature, relative humidity, 10-m wind speed and direction from Open-Meteo) are derived from the values you enter and from external data, and must be independently checked against authoritative sources (e.g. NWS Fire Weather Forecast, RAWS) and your own field observations. Mission Control does not compute or estimate fuel moisture, mid-flame wind speed, mixing height, dispersion index, transport wind, or KBDI — those values are operator entry only.

When you sign a burn plan inside Mission Control, you certify that you have reviewed all entered data, all forecast values, all calculated outputs, and all prescription parameters, and that the plan is consistent with your training, your authority, and applicable regulations.

3. No Warranty

Mission Control is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, that data shown is correct, or that the exported PDF will satisfy any particular agency, jurisdiction, or contract.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, threesixtyoperations, LLC and its principals, employees, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of Mission Control — including without limitation property damage, smoke intrusion, escaped fire, injury, death, regulatory penalty, lost profits, or third-party claims — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability under any theory shall not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100) or the amount you paid us in the prior twelve months, whichever is greater.

5. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless threesixtyoperations, LLC and its principals from any claim, loss, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your use of Mission Control, (b) any prescribed-fire operation you plan, authorize, or execute, (c) your breach of these terms, or (d) your violation of any law or third-party right.

6. Account, Data, and Privacy

An account is required to use the planning console. We collect your name, email address, and phone number to operate the service, contact you about your plans, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal information. Plan data is stored on our servers; you can delete your account on request and we will delete associated plans. Communications about forecast advisories or product updates may be sent to the email or phone number you provide.

7. Acceptable Use

You will not (a) use Mission Control to plan or document any unlawful fire, (b) misrepresent your authority or qualifications, (c) attempt to access another user's plans, or (d) interfere with the security or operation of the service.

8. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to the address on your account. Continued use after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions, and any dispute shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Alabama.
